extracted from freshwater algae from the company's own farm in Kona, Hawaii.
Astaxanthin belongs to the group of carotenoids. Carotenoids are natural
pigments that provide the red, yellow and orange colour in fruits and
vegetables. Astaxanthin is naturally formed in microalgae (plankton) and gives
salmon fish and crustaceans their characteristic pink colour. Due to its
special molecular structure, it can effectively spread throughout the body and
act as an antioxidant to protect the cells in the body from oxidative stress
and free radicals. This remarkable mode of action makes astaxanthin the most
powerful antioxidant in the world. Ingredients D-alpha-tocopherol, extra
virgin olive oil, natural astaxanthin (from Haematococcus pluvialis), modified
maize starch (non-GMO), glazing agent: carrageenan (from algae); humectant:
glycerol (vegetable); sweetener: sorbitol; purified water, high oleic
safflower oil, sunflower oil, antioxidant: natural tocopherols.
